FUNDS RAISED
Talbot Community Connections (TCC), a small group of volunteers, was formed to raise funds to enhance the Talbot County Department of Social Services’ (TCDSS) capacity to respond directly to problems of safety and well-being of county citizens. The funds raised provide help to abused children through the Talbot County Children’s Advocacy Center, families in crisis, the unemployed, and disabled and frail elderly. TCC awards provided monies for respite care, prevention of evictions and utility disconnects, therapeutic activities for disabled foster care children, housing fuel, transportation, and prescriptions to prevent hospitalization. TCC funds were able to help keep individuals in the community, families united and others remain in their homes.
In 2009 TCC raised $ 32,656.00 through four fundraisers, a grant and a partnership with Soroptimist International of Talbot County. The Soroptimists selected the Talbot County Children's Advocacy Center as its signature project for 2008-10. The funds raised helped roughly 65 children, families and adults to experience a more secure environment.
