FUNDS RAISED
Talbot Community Connections (TCC), a small group of volunteers, was formed to raise funds to enhance the Talbot County Department of Social Services’ (TCDSS) capacity to respond directly to problems of safety and well-being of county citizens. The funds raised provide help to abused children through the Talbot County Children’s Advocacy Center, families in crisis, the unemployed, and disabled and frail elderly. TCC awards provided monies for respite care, prevention of evictions and utility disconnects, therapeutic activities for disabled foster care children, housing fuel, transportation, and prescriptions to prevent hospitalization. TCC funds were able to help keep individuals in the community, families united and others remain in their homes.
In 2008 TCC raised $ 27,476.00 through three fundraisers and a two-year pledge. The funds raised helped roughly 137 children, families and adults to experience a more safe and secure environment. With its all volunteer board, TCC has been able to hold expenses to an average of 9.6% over the last three years.
